Sinead

For an assignment. An editorial illustration of a person.

Self

Can you tell my semester is almost over? I'm posting more.
t
A self portrait. Assignment was to do a makeover of some kind. I painted myself as something I would never want to be.

Religion or myth

I just did a series of character paintings based on people from religion or mythology.

I will post them in threes.

From the opera Carmen.

Great Grandma

I have always liked a story my mom told me about her grandmother saving an iguana.

So I painted it.

Crypto

I did this little design based off of cryptozoological animals and I like how it turned out. I kind of want to print it on fabric and make pajamas out of it.

Notorious

Notorious is one of my favorite Hitchcock films. I did a digital painting of a still from the movie, and while I don't think it's great, it is the best of the four stills I painted.

Pirates

Book pirates even.

Doctor Horrible!

I had to draw this...

I feel like I'm getting better at digital stuff.

Ruth

Another character from Hero. I like her.

Galaxy Twins

I drew The Galaxy Twins from Hero. I plan on drawing more characters.

X-Women

First off, I did NOT draw these. My best friend Joelle did. We go running every once in a while and for some reason, as we jog we talk about comics. We grew up together in the 90's during the Jim Lee/Joe Madureira runs of the series and one night, probably brought on by Project Runway we talked about how we would redesign the X-Men.

Joelle and I drew them, hers are better so I colored her sketches. We've got Jean, Storm, Rogue and Jubilee. Maybe I will post mine some time. I just thought these were so cool.

We both just read the Joss Whedon issue where Emma makes Scott see her as Jean. She loved it. Especially cause of the Wolverine stuff.

Anyway, like I said. I did not draw this. Just colored it.

Tristan

This afternoon I should have been finishing up sketches for my RCC Proposal book thing. Instead, I ate a chicken ceaser wrap and colored this.

It's a character from Love the Way You Love by Jamie S. Rich and Marc Ellerby.

I think it's kind of cute.

Etheline

So a while back I saw a blog devoted to artwork of The Royal Tennenbaums. I was surprised to see that no one had really done any of Anjelica Houston. So I did this today.

I think I might send it on over to James for kicks.

Javier

I didn't like the last one I did so I did this one in Joelle's sketchbook.

Divine

I drew these for a friend's birthday. A whole bunch of clothes.

Strangetown

A little piece I did for Ian and Chynna for their book Strangetown. Ian tells me no one else has done Vanora fan art.

Oz

So I have this drawing that I did when I was little. It's the earliest piece of art that I have. Since I just got a tablet I wanted to color it without changing any of the line art. 20-some years in the making folks.

Raquel

So I painted this. It's kinda sorta supposed to be my mom.

This is the first page of my English final/RCC Anthology submission.

Jacob Black

I plan on doing many sketches and pieces inspired by Twilight but this one I did real quick after my homework and now I am going to bed. Took me about an hour and I actually really like it.

This is Jacob Black from the Twilight series. Mostly how I picture him looking in Book 2: New Moon. I know he is young but the book states he looks like he is in his 20's. Anyway, I will do more later.

Malingo and Mater Motley

Malingo was tough because every time I drew him he just looked like friggin Jar Jar Binks. Physically, the character was similar but I had to play with highlighting his differences.

Mater Motley is just creepy and I wanted her dress/coat to look like it could kill you on its own.

More on Tuesday!

Squiller and Boats

So here is my Squiller and Boats from Abarat. Squiller was fun but a challenge as I had to play with how he would wrao himself around Candy's face. These boats are pretty much yanked from Polly and the Pirates but I like the idea of the boats being houses and want to expand more on this later.

More Abarat

Candy and Boa.

Mischief and Shape

Two more Abarats.

John Mischief (and his brothers) and Shape.

Abarat

So my first Illustration assignment this semester was Visual Development for a book that hasn't been made into a film. I chose my favorite book, Abarat by Clive Barker. I had done some sketches for it a while back but this was my chance to just improve on old designs and paint them in a new way.

As I get the time over the next few days I will scan and post them all. Here is Candy. Tomorrow expect Mischief and Shape.

This is old. Oh well.

More Twilight

My sister just won't give up so I did more Twilight art. Alice is actually my favorite character so far so I wanted to draw her...I figured putting Rosalie with her would be a nice contrast considering they look so different. I know photos have come out of the cast for the film and Alice's hair is a bit longer, but if she is had escaped/released from an asylum or whatever then wouldn't it be pretty short? That's just me justifying loving that hairstyle.

Anyway, Here ya go.
